PartyGaming has released a statement in regards to reports that their co-founder, Anurag Dikshit pleaded guilty to charges of illegal online gambling as well during the time that having had paid a settlement to U.S. officials of $300 million.
PartyGaming has been battling these charges since the introducing of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act back in 2006. Due to the UIGEA online gambling became unlawful in the U.S.and swept most gaming companies out of the U.S. and to new offshore locations.
In response to the state, PartyGaming issued a statement saying, ““…on the basis of the discussions to-date, PartyGaming expects any settlement with the DoJ to involve a payment by the Company of an amount that is significantly lower than that reported to be paid by Mr Dikshit in today’s Financial Times. In addition, the Company believes that in any degree such settlement is unlikely to include a trespasser plea on the part of the Company or any director.”
This is just speculation at the moment, but I’ll hold fast you informed with any updates. Is it just me or does $300 million be seen excessive? Well, hopefully our new President will step in at more purpose and make things seemly for Party Gaming. Only a few more weeks left until the Presidential Inauguration….can’face to face wait!
