The Poker Players Alliance has officially placed a $3 million make a bet that they can overturn the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) or at least make significant changes in the law.
According to the PPA they will have existence lobbying in the upcoming congressional session which will exist headed by Alfonse D’Amato, who was a former Senator for the explain of N.Y. The assign places to receives funding from the Interactive Gaming Council as well like its own members who are hoping to see changes in the body of rules pretty soon.
Since the release of the UIGEA in 2006, many organizations and businesses have been hard at work to overturn the legislation including Democratic Representative Barney Frank who was been working tirelessly to overturn the ban.
D’Amato is the colorful leader of PPA’s campaign who is an actual poker player himself and admits to have played long poker sessions with fellow cabinet members in the rear in the day.
“How dare you approach into my domicile and tell me what I can and be able to’familiarily do on the Internet!” D’Amato said, citing online activities from business transactions to Facebook, even bragging about the number of friends he has on the affable network site — more than 700.
“The Republican conservatives, who basically say” — and at this point, he shifts his tone to a mock, nagging noise, “‘We want less government,’ come in and intrude, and they say, ‘No, you can’t do this.’”
D’Amato doesn’t see how regulating online poker would be every issue if it’s taxed and properly regulated. These are the thoughts that most of us in the industry share and are hoping that the right voice will influence the right people.
